Biodiversity in Pakistan:
Definition:
Biodiversity is a measurement of verity of species present
in different ecosystem. The division of plants are called flora and division is
called funa, depends upon the ecosystems. They are also dependent on other species.
Importance of biodiversity:
Biodiversity provide food for humans. A significant
production of drugs can be directly derived from plants. Biodiversity is
important because it ensures the continued existence of a wide variety of
species and ecosystems. It provides numerous benefits such as ecosystem
stability, clean air and water, pollination of plants, and resources for food,
medicine, and industry.
Biodiversity in Pakistan:
Pakistan has 195 mammal species (6 being endemic), 668 bird species (25 being
endangered), 177 reptile species (13 being endemic), 22 amphibians (9 being
endemic), 198 fresh water fishes (29 being endemic) and 5,000 species of
invertebrates, as well as 5,700 species of flowering plants (over 400 being
endemic). Pakistan’s biodiversity is facing many problems during their
survival. Bio diversity in Pakistan is disturbed in many ways some ways are
mantioned below.
Biodiversity disturbed in Pakistan:
Biodiversity is disturbed in Pakistan because of
deforestation, soil erosion, habitat loss, desertification etc. But the best
reason is Deforestation . Deforestation is due to cutting down of trees to
obtain land for housing, gums, rubbers, medicines, wood etc. Due to
deforestation many species are in danger of extinction. These species are
called endangered species. Many animals have extinct in Pakistan such as snow leopards, Flare horned Markhors, Marco Polo sheep, musk deer, brown
bear, and Indian wild ass. Many animals are in danger in Pakistan such as
Marco Polo Sheep, Indus Dolphin, Houbara Bustard, Snow Loepard Flare horned Markhors, Ladakh Urial, musk
deer, brown bear, and woolly lying squirrel
Steps that had taken by Pakistan to improve Biodiversity:
Pakistan is also working to conserve
biodiversity of ecosystems. Some measures taken by Pakistan are given below:
Protected Areas:
Pakistan has established numerous national parks to protect
and conserve various ecosystems and species. These protected areas cover a
significant portion of the country's biodiversity, including important habitats
like forests etc.
Public Awareness:
Efforts have been made to raise public awareness about the
importance of conserving biodiversity. Community based avareness have been to promote responsible behavior and the
conservation of natural resources.
For conservation of Chiltan Markhor and Marco Polo Sheep:
The WWF-P is an organization of Pakistan working to conserve
Pakistan’s Biodiversity. The WWF-P has started various projects aimed for
conserving the Chiltan Markhor and Marco Polo Sheep. These projects involve
efforts to protect their natural habitat, raise awareness about their
importance, and measures to prevent their hunting and illegal trade.
Conclusion:
Pakistan is working more to conserve its Biodiversity
because everything without nature is nothing. Scientists predict when there is
no Biodiversity in an ecosystem, it will be reason of collapse of globular
ecosystem. It is not only responsibility of the government but also of all of
us. So stop cutting forests and hunting animals of different species of
different ecosystems.
